The Beautifully Undone Beanie is a one of a kind grey knitted beanie transformed by hand into an intentionally distressed piece of wearable alternative art. Torn and unravelled sections interrupt the soft grey knit, while scattered silver safety pins, chain and tiny metal details give it the feeling of something that’s been repaired, altered and loved over and over again.

Two black satin bows sit amongst the destruction, bringing an unexpectedly delicate coquette element to the rougher punk detailing. Across the front, a silver chain is suspended between oversized safety pins, while smaller pins and tiny dangling charms are scattered irregularly across the hat.

Rather than trying to make every detail perfectly symmetrical, I’ve kept the design deliberately mismatched and imperfect. Loose threads, distressed holes and raw knitted edges are all intentional parts of the design — every rip and embellishment contributes to its beautifully undone appearance.

The pale grey colour makes the darker details stand out while keeping the hat surprisingly wearable. Style it with an oversized distressed jumper, leather jacket and heavy boots for full grunge, or contrast it with lace, ribbons and softer pieces for a fairygrunge or grunge-coquette look.

This isn’t a mass-produced “distressed effect” hat. Each alteration and embellishment has been added by hand, meaning there won’t be another one exactly like it.
